What the Community is saying about SCF
The Smith family considered creating a private foundation but decided the Community Foundation was the best vehicle for the estate gift…
“I’ve been a personal supporter of the Community Foundation, and I trust them with my money.” Garrett says. “It’s a solid Siouxland establishment.” Garrett’s father, Wrede Smith, in fact was a founding member of the Siouxland Community Foundation.
“The Siouxland Community Foundation has left an indelible mark on the region through its stewardship of the United 232 Scholarship Fund. Since the inception of the fund in 1999, nearly 600 young men and women have been awarded scholarships enabling them to pursue a career in a health-related field. We are particularly appreciative of the Foundation’s support of the 25th anniversary observance of Flight 232 as the community creates a fitting memorial to an event that defined this region we call Siouxland.”
“The Siouxland Community Foundation and the Kind World Foundation Scholarship program have given me a great educational opportunity. I know with this scholarship my dream of becoming a pharmacist will become a reality. I was so excited and honored to be chosen as the Distinguished Scholar Recipient. Through the generosity of others, I will be able to focus on my education and worry less about the financial burden of college. Both the Foundation and KWF are wonderful organizations that have given me tremendous support these last few months, and I know they will be there for me on my journey through college.”
